.....summer of 2011 is coming to an end, kids are back in school, the weather is getting a little cooler and it's time to put the sewing machine in high gear!
Some of the things I will be posting about will be frugal quilting, re-using fabrics, life in general and maybe a coherent thought or two! I am still doing custom sewing for clients but enjoy just making what I want, when I want so will be sharing these with you.....if you have any comments, tips or want to talk...please feel free to do so.........would like to make this our little sewing circle on the web.
Lately, I have been making a lot of aprons as these seem to sell well....I use a pattern similar to those made in the 30's and 40's, with pockets, trimmed with ric-rac, and fabrics typical of that era. I have also made matching sunbonnets to match! I will post some pictures of them shortly (meaning as soon as I buy batteries for the camera!)
Another good seller this year has been purses......made from vintage cutter quilts, re-cycled denim and vintage trims......all lined and machine washable.
As a former brick and mortar quilt shop owner, I still sell new fabrics, vintage fabrics, out of print books and patterns and teach classes. In this economy, I keep my prices low and still make enough to get by on.......
Please respond and let me know what you are interested in reading..........from quilting and sewing questions, everyday goings on, or just say hi!
Quilting thought............don't be intimidated by all the new fangled products on the market....granma didn't have them and she made some beautiful things............a basic sewing machine, good scissors, basic geometry and gorgeous fabric is all it takes!
........have a blessed day!

Wow!
I can't believe that it's been two years since I was on here..............lots of changes but for the good! In the process of getting the business going full speed to make it my job now as I am totally burnt out on working for others and not making any progress!
It has been a busy summer out on the road selling fabrics, sewing machines and handmades but the winter is coming fast so must look to the 'net for the next few months to keep up the pace. With the economy being so slow, it was a pleasant surprise that my business actually had the best year....people are sewing, mending and creating and I'm right there to help with a little encouragement, good prices and quality items to buy. Sounds like a good combination to me!
I'm totally new to this concept of selling so please bear with me as I find my way into e-commerce land! I will be posting pictures soon of the items I sell and buy so be sure and check back to see what's happening here at The Patchwork Pansy!
Have a blessed day!

End of the year thoughts.....
Well, here it is, the end of another year and the holidays are upon us. Am I ready for Christmas? No, but that's ok 'cause the kids are here, we're warm, there's food in the house and everyone is healthy so the rest can just happen as it will.
This has been quite a year for changes........moved twice, started a business, closed a business, starting the new year with a totally new job, reviving the sewing business that has been on hold........whew! I'm tired just writing about it! I, for one, will not be sorry to see 2007 go into the history book.
